Stephen de Búrca is a writer, researcher, and workshop facilitator from Galway, Ireland.

He completed a doctorate, funded by the UK Arts & Humanities Research Council, at the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen’s University Belfast and an MFA at the University of Florida. He received the inaugural Poetry Ireland Gerald Dawe Poetry Bursary and the Ireland Chair of Poetry Travel Award in 2026. He was selected for Poetry Ireland Introductions (2023) and received an Arts Council Agility Award (2023 and 2022). Stephen’s work has featured in Poetry Ireland Review, The Irish Times, The Stinging Fly, PN Review, Banshee, Propel Magazine, Channel, Skylight 47, Crannóg, and elsewhere.

Atlantic Fret, published by The Gallery Press in 2026, is his first collection.
